WAGIC Connect needs your help
In order to run events like this, we need solid data on whether or not you all got something out of it, and found it useful, so if you haven't yet, I would really appreciate it if you could complete the survey that was sent out to all the emails that were signed up, please make sure you check your junk folders, as these mass emails can sometimes get caught there.

Thank you all! :IconHeart:
Again, I want to thank everyone for being excited and attending, I really hope you all got something out of the event, and for us to run this again, we really need to show that this was useful.

If you have a demo you'd like more eyeballs on, you can submit it here:

Game Pitching Masterclass with Jon Cartwright
We've got another amazing workshop coming up in a couple of weeks for WA game developers!

Across two online sessions in September, Jon Cartwright will be joining us to talk all things pitching, from putting together a strong pitch deck and talking about your game in a way that gets people interested, through to handling publisher/investor meetings and following up afterwards.

The second session will also give you the chance to pitch your game directly to Jon and get feedback on your deck and presentation.

- Friday, September 4 AND 18 between 12-5pm AWST
- Online via the WAGIC Discord
- $20
- Strictly limited to 20 WA game developers

If you've applied for PlayNow during MIGW, I recommend signing up for this one before spots fill up! We intentionally scheduled the workshop ahead of PlayNow so you'll have time to work on your pitch, get feedback from Jon, and make any final changes before sitting down with publishers and investors in October.

REGISTER NOW πŸ‘‰ <https://events.humanitix.com/wagic-presents-game-pitching-masterclass-with-jon-cartwright>

This workshop is supported by Screenwest and the Western Australian Government through the Workshops and Masterclasses Fund.

I know that things have been a little hectic since Pixel Expo, but I just wanted to put out a reminder that we need all the AGM nominations in by the 22nd of August (!) Please remember to fill it out if you would like to join our OCM, Sub Committee's or put their hat in to be an Executive! There have also been reported some issues with the form that was sent out via email (the one here was fine), so if you have any confusion about that, and want to make sure your form was submitted, please feel free to reach out to me or fill out the form again below.

WAGIC Connect is DONE!
And we are getting some rest... :IconBolt: JUST TO ATTEND PIXEL EXPO LETS GOOO!!! :IconBolt:

Thank you all! :IconHeart:
I want to thank everyone who attended and helped out yesterday, or even just came to share a networking drink with us all in celebration, we couldn't have done it without you all being there to take part, and what an incredible turn out it was.

:IconLoading: There will be a survey going out soon, to the emails of everyone who signed up, this is partly so we can see what people are interested in for next time to make this better and partly so we have more quantitative data to make it easier to run this again, please fill that out ASAP as part of that helps us prove sponsoring the event was worth it

Thank you again to all our volunteers and the council members who made this event happen, the WA Government and the City of Perth for their support and thank you to those who travelled to be there, especially our speakers who flew over here from the eastern states to share their expertise.

Please keep an eye on your inboxes for that survey and enjoy your time at Pixel Expo!

If you're coming to Pixel Expo in Perth, you'll be able to play a bunch of them in person over the weekend. If you're on the other side of the country (or just don't feel like leaving the house), the whole showcase will also be live on Steam.

:IconHeart: WAGIC - Pixel Expo Insurance information

It's official! WAGIC can cover Public Liability Insurance (PLI) for developers showcasing at Pixel Expo if you're a WAGIC member on the Indie tier or higher.

PLI insurance is required for showcasing booths at Pixel Expo, if you haven't seen some of the conversations and previous posts here, WAGIC is now able to cover PLI insurance for Pixel Expo for developers showcasing there, for members on the Indie tier or above!

You don't need to show anything specifically to Pixel, we will be coordinating with them, as long as you are at the correct tier ( Indie or Pro tiers ) you qualify, and will be able to take advantage of this. We will be sending out emails to everyone on these tiers to confirm if you are, or are not attending the event and need insurance, and to get permission to share your status with the organisers.

Any questions or suggestions, feel free to message me directly, or ping me in the #Discord channel channel!

@Partner News G'day team it's that time of the year again where I ask you to submit the games you've released in 2025! SIFTER each year for the last SEVEN years have been making lists of every Australian game released. Most of you know how this works but just in case here is a quick over view:

1. Game must be publicly available, free or paid, for the first time in 2025, or come to a brand new platform in 2025.
2. They can be of any scale. If you are an Australian working with a remote team that counts, if you're all hunkered down in one of the Perth suburbs that counts too. I let you define that.
3. That's basically it. If you think it counts submit it, if I have questions I'll ask you.

HOW DO I SUBMIT?
Please fill in this form: https://www.sifter.com.au/add-my-game-to-sifters-australian-made-games-list
Any questions please email me gianni@sifter.com.au or DM on Discord.

If you can please share this form with people you know have made a game that'd be fantastic. This work is being used in academic research, funding research etc.

@Partner News IGEA is collecting data for the 2025 Australian Game Development Survey and input from Australian game developers is crucial.

We have streamlined the survey to make it faster and easier to complete, while still gathering the key data needed to advocate for better funding, policy, and recognition for our industry. Bond university is running the survey on our behalf and all responses are confidential and focused on FY2024-25.

If you didn’t receive the email invite, you can still participate via this link: https://bond.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bdQumkZtR9ogJG6

:sparkles: Level Her Up Presents: Intro to Aseprite & Blender (2D & 3D Art) 🎨
@Partner News

I'm happy to announce the next Level Her Up workshops taking place on Saturday, October 25th from 10am-4pm! πŸ™Œ

This free two-part workshop is for emerging and future women and non-binary game developers, including those just starting out or considering a career in game development, who want to understand the fundamentals of 2D pixel art (Aseprite) and/or 3D modeling (Blender).

You can sign up for one workshop or join us for both; it’s completely up to you! Spots are limited, so please only register if you’re sure you can make it. Each session runs for 2.5 hours, with a short 15-minute break during and a 30-minute break between sessions if you’re sticking around for the second workshop.

➑️ Intro to Aseprite (2D Pixel Art) - Cody Lehman (10am - 12:45pm)
Cody is an illustrator, animator, and solo game developer. He grew up with games from the 90s and 2000s, which inspired his interest in pixel art and lo-fi textures. For the past 10 years, he has used Aseprite to create assets for his own projects as well as for commercial work. Cody sees pixel art as a timeless medium that is easy to learn and capable of producing striking results.

➑️ Intro to Blender (3D Modeling) - Sophie Till (1:15pm - 4pm)
Sophie is a 3D artist and indie game developer who has worked across multiple platforms and workflows. With experience using many 3D tools, she has a deep understanding of 3D design for games and how to get the most out of Blender. Some of her work has included creating cinematic game trailers, animated game characters, and game environments. Recently, she started her own studio and is currently working on their debut game. She finds 3D an amazing outlet for creativity, especially when paired with games.

These workshops are being offered both in-person and online to reach as many people as possible:

- In-Person (Boola Katitjin, Murdoch University): Receive Level Her Up swag, network with like-minded women and non-binary gamedevs, and get hands-on support during the workshop(s). Light refreshments will be provided.

- Online (Discord): Tune in to the workshop(s) from afar via the Level Her Up Discord.

In-person spaces are limited, so register ASAP! :hyperpushbutton:
